Minimum Requirements
• B Degree in Law or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
• Good communication and interpretation skills
• Report writing skills
• Negotiation skills
• Analytical skills
• Computer literacy
• 5 – 8 years’ experience as a Legal Advisor in a public institution
Core Responsibilities
• Provide legal advice in order to ensure compliance with legal requirements
• Provide procedural advice in order to ensure compliance with the Rules and Orders
• Enhance procedural capacity in order to ensure consistency with the application of rulings
• Attend to claims instituted by and against the Department in order to protect the interests of Council
• Draft legal documents in order to ensure legally sound legal documents
• Provide advice in respect of legislative compliance in order to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
• Provide management support in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the division

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
Candidates may be requested to submit proof of the NQF level applicable to the qualifications they have obtained.
